Son-in-law is not the right description. It is too remote and cold. Chris was a member of our close family.
From the moment he was introduced to us, we just knew he was the right man for Xanthe and that impression was proved to be spot on over the years.
We had so many wonderful moments. One that stands out early on was when we went to Cervinia, which was his introduction to skiing. After the first day, we saw his puzzlement as to how his partner and her mum and dad, could possible be so addicted to this alien activity. By the end of the holiday, he too was smitten with the bug and that lovely time turned out to be the first of many memorable holidays we had with Chris and Xanthe.
We have watched with concern as he and Xanthe confronted the difficulties that life throws at you and particularly Xanthe’s illness, where his steadfast love and support for her helped in her recovery.
We have watched with delight at their world travels and the adventure and enjoyment that this bought to their lives.
It is so sad that their time together had to end so quickly but theirs was a partnership of hard work, adventure and love that packed so much into an all-too-short time. We must concentrate on the memories of a life that packed in so much more than many will ever experience. We are so glad Chris, that you became part of our family.

So sorry for your loss Xanthe. I remember both you and Chris well, from my time at CFM at Fel01. Seem to recall a passion for skiing. I have recently moved from UK to NZ so unable to attend the remembrance, however my thoughts are with you.
